Client's Needs

Diamond Jack’s River Tours is a long-standing Detroit-based company, operating three riverboats for over 20 years on the upper and lower Detroit River from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Two boats run scheduled sight-seeing tours for the public Thursday through Sunday, and the third boat operates private charters from May through October any day of the week. In our over-10-year relationship with this client, we have seen them grow steadily and out-grow their original website. The needs of the client were basically two-fold: (1) Create a beautiful site that transported the mind of the website user into the fantasy of a river cruise, and (2) provide an online ticketing system to permit the prospective customer to order their tickets online.

Our Solution

The developers at Detroit Web Design are very experienced in designing shopping carts for clients and used that background to create a robust ticketing system that not only allowed the website user to buy their tickets online but to use their Groupon vouchers to buy a discounted ticket online. The debut of the ticketing system in 2014 was a huge success, and now the client not only has payment in advance, but is able to read the “sold capacity” for each cruise by time and date. This is very beneficial for scheduling crew and knowing how many walk-ups can be boarded. Sales, information and beauty all came together in this panorama layout for Diamond Jack’s River Tour.
